Information about the blind golf program

A ball soars through the air and lands within inches of the hole. A volunteer golf coach positions the golfer and the clubs, and then, offers guidance on what type of shot it is. The blind golfer carefully takes aim and putts.

Clients who are visually impaired and blind have renewed their "love of the game" through the Blind Golf Program. While you have heard "keep you eyes on the ball," a visually impaired or blind golfer is assisted through the "eyes" of others. Individuals learn or relearn the sport through this innovative program.

Clients can participate in a variety of golfing activities including:

More about the North Coast Golf Show at the IX Center:

This year marked the 7th year Cleveland Sight Center held a booth at the Golf Show. At this booth, we were able to create an awareness and introduce hundreds of greater Cleveland golfers to our golf program along with the many services available through Cleveland Sight Center. We had 12 volunteer coaches sign up and one new golfer. The volunteer coaches who gave up their time on this cold, snowy weekend were:

Dan Prokopchak, Keith Perkins, Ed Johnson, Ron Dunn, Jim Hickey, Matt Verleny, Jack Schultis, Mary Pavlyshn and the Sight Center's own Greg McGrath.

Many thanks to the volunteer golf coaches! Thanks must also be given to North Coast Golf Show's Joe and Stacey Stegh for again helping to subsidize the cost of the booth.
