The State of Ohio has approximately 120 facilities located on Federal and State properties throughout the state, including vending machine sites on major freeways and interstates. As a sole proprietor, the average income is approximately $37,000. Facilities include cafeterias, snack bars, dry stands or vending machine locations.

Entrance Requirements

  • Good interpersonal skills, physical stamina, math skills, mobility skills and communication skills
  • Two-week in-facility pre-training evaluation to determine potential for future training.

Food Service Employee Training

Independent class training including “hands-on” food service experience. The individual is trained to be employed in the food service industry, i.e. restaurants, other Business Enterprises facilities etc. Length of training varies according to previous experience.

Food Service Work Adjustment

A person may have limited work experience and could still benefit from performance reinforcement in an actual job setting. The individual is placed in a Business Enterprises facility to evaluate his/her work quality, interpersonal skills, punctuality, stamina etc., and will be given assistance to improve their skills.
