2008 PROGRAM

Registration Deadline is May 31, 2008

Cleveland Sight Center has 33 years of experience teaching young adults who are blind or visually impaired critical daily living skills in a comprehensive summer program, to help them successfully transition from high school to college, or directly to work. The program promotes independent living via a residential apartment setting, paid real-life work experience, and cutting-edge computer technology training, all under the instruction and supervision of trained rehabilitation professionals. Staff-to-student ratio is 2-to-1 for this program. Cleveland Sight Center is a CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) accredited agency.

The referring BSVI (Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired) counselor of Rachel, a 2007 participant said about the program, “The training and preparation it gives for individuals/high school students living at home is very useful! Just the exposure of being away from home (Mom and Dad) is very useful in first steps of independence and independent living!”

The parent of a Cleveland State University student, Joseph, who was also a 2007 program participant commented, “He is living on his own in college, getting a taste of his own life. He is grateful he got practice in a non-pressure situation.”

The 2008 program will be held from Sunday, June 15 to Friday, July 25. Please call Lorie Marsalis at (216) 791-8118, ext. 286, for more information or to register a young adult for this program.
