"To empower people with vision loss to realize their full potential, and to shape the community's vision of that potential.”
Our programs and services are designed to empower our clients to move beyond limitations.

To complete the registration process, we will need a signed medical release allowing your eye doctor to release your eye report to us, and you will need to have had an eye exam within the last 12 months. All children and adults are registered through intake and then a case manager is assigned.
To contact a Registration Coordinator, please call 216-791-8118, ext. 4685.

MISCELLANEOUS SERVICES INFORMATION
Deaf-Blind Services
We have a special Deaf-Blind Services program that is affiliated with the Helen Keller National Center for Deaf-Blind Youth and Adults. Being part of this national network helps us keep abreast of new developments in this area.
Our deaf-blind coordinator provides an assessment of your needs and designs a plan of individualized treatment. Your coordinator will get to know your family, friends and any other people who have an impact on your life to give them the information and the skills they will need to help you. For more information on Deaf-Blind services, please call 216-791-8118, ext. 4682. Email Deaf-Blind Services
Finding Employment
If you haven’t already done so, we will refer you to the Bureau of Services for the Visually Impaired (BSVI), part of the State of Ohio’s Rehabilitation Services Commission. In the Northeast Ohio area, Cleveland Sight Center is a partner with BSVI in the effort to place adults with vision impairment in jobs. The members of our Cleveland Sight Center professional staff, including your case manager, along with counselors with BSVI, and many others will assist you.
Guide Dogs
If you think you would like to have a guide dog, our staff professionals will help you first learn orientation and mobility skills using a cane. They will then provide you with a list of guide dog programs across the country. You may also want to talk to others who have guide dogs, as you make this decision. Cleveland Sight Center has no affiliation with any specific guide dog school.
Residence Center
If you’re enrolled in one of our more intensive skill-building programs, you may qualify to live in our Residence Center, an on-site group of fully furnished apartments, during your training. The apartment wing is attached to Cleveland Sight Center’s main building for safety and convenience. Each room has its own private bath, as well as a stove, microwave, and a refrigerator. Laundry facilities and a lounge are also accessible on a lower floor. The Residence Center is available for our clients who have not yet mastered their traveling skills and for clients who are here as participants in one of our partnership training programs with agencies in other states. Residence Center: $175 per week, $35 per night. Recommended Food/Necessities Allowance for Residence Center: $80 per week. For more information on our Residence Center, contact Kathy McKinsey at 216-791-8118 ext. 8757. Email Residence Center
Talking Books
Available for people who are visually impaired or blind are pre-recorded tapes from the National Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped. These tapes are provided free; however, they require a special tape player which we can provide for you. To contact our Talking Books Department, call 216-791-8118, ext. 4676. Email Talking Books Department
Transportation
Transportation is available, but limited. For special events and activities at Cleveland Sight Center, group outings at Highbrook Lodge Camp, and in times of special need, Cleveland Sight Center drivers provide transportation in one of our vans. However, one of our goals is to help all of our clients become as independent as possible, and this means helping our clients learn how to use public and others means of transportation.
