Our programs and services are designed to empower our clients to move beyond limitations.

Everyone is welcome. Schedule may change. Registered clients will be contacted if cancellation occurs. Transportation is available for 2 activities to any new participant. One guest is always welcome as participants become acquainted with recreation programs, staff and facilities.

Make a reservation to visit the Recreation staff. We can explore your community recreation, explain and provide a sample of Sight Center activities, and broaden your knowledge of recreation on a regional or national level for people with vision loss. Call 216-791-8118, ext. 4595.
Important Notice for Clients
Clients who participate in any Recreation events, programs or activities will be asked to complete and return a Medical Treatment Release form and an Authorization to Attend form. You will only need to do this one time during the year. These forms will provide valuable information to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone, including clients, staff and volunteers.

Cleveland Orchestra Music Study Groups
Music Study Groups explore current concert music performed by The Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall. The classes, designed for both new and experienced music lovers, meet at six convenient locations throughout Greater Cleveland. Dr. Rose Breckenridge teaches all classes. Cleveland Sight Center and The Cleveland Orchestra’s Alice Cull Fund support special services for persons with vision impairments (Sight Center consumers) at two Music Study Group locations. Line Dancing
Mondays, September 14, 21 & 28.
Beginner Class: 10:00 am - noon ~ Cleveland Sight Center Auditorium.
Advanced Class: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm ~ Cleveland Sight Center Auditorium.
Exercise at your own pace. Increase your strength. Make dancing a part of a weight management control program. Come in to teach others new steps, laugh and learn. Facilitator: Deb Peterson. Call ext. 4595.
Book Discussion Group
Monday, September 14.
Morning group: 10:00 am - 11:30 am ~ Cleveland Sight Center Smith Lounge.
Afternoon group: 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm ~ Cleveland Sight Center Smith Lounge.
The book to be reviewed in September is The Shack by William T. Young. Allow 1/2 hour before discussion for refreshments. Enjoy great books and lively conversation over a cup of coffee or tea and a snack. With your 4-track player and tapes, you will be prepared to discuss the merits of the books selected. Should you need a tape player, please let us know! Book discussion groups meet the second Monday of the month September through December. Facilitators: Mary K. Crochet and Craft Days
Tuesdays, September 15, 22 & 29 ~ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm ~ Cleveland Sight Center Crafts Room. Participants work on personal projects, "Warm Up America" projects, gifts and items to sell, and teach others craft and crochet skills. Learn to crochet or to try your hand at creating something else special. Bring or buy a lunch. Special instruction can be arranged for new participants. Braille Notes Choir
Practice: Wednesdays, September 9 & 23 ~ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm ~ Cleveland Sight Center Smith Lounge.
Performance: TBD
Practice and perform throughout the year. One performance per month. Music is available in Braille, large print and on tape. If music lifts your spirits, if you play an instrument, and if you like to get other people’s feet tapping to a good tune, we welcome you as a member. Sculpture & Crafts
Saturday, September 26 ~ 9:30 am - 11:30 am ~ Cleveland Sight Center Crafts Room. Join the group and create a beautiful piece of pottery, make jewelry, weave with raffia and discover your inner artist. Sculpture Class meets once a month on Saturdays. Join us for music, friendship, conversation, educational opportunities and a chance to shop at the EYE-dea Shop!
