A Rewarding Experience
Your time and energy are valuable assets to Cleveland Sight Center. We could not provide the breadth and quality of services without the help of generous volunteers. At the same time, our volunteers tell us they learn new skills, meet new friends and enjoy the knowledge they are making a difference by supporting people who have little or no eyesight.
For every volunteer, we match your interests and skills with the specific needs of our clients. Be assured that you will be trained for your specific assignment and have the opportunity to expand your experience through educational meetings and other activities. Some tasks don’t require vision, so many blind or visually impaired persons receiving service from Cleveland Sight Center become our most steadfast volunteers. If you would like to help us please e-mail or phone Alicia Howerton at 216-658-4587.
How You Might Help and Volunteer
The range is enormous. You might tape a textbook for a blind college student, narrate the details of a live theater performance, or Braille a restaurant menu. You might help a blind golfer “read the course” or share the rudder with a blind sailor aboard a yacht skimming Lake Erie.
Please click on Volunteer Opportunities and complete our online application.
After we receive your completed application, we will schedule an interview to discuss your interests and offer a volunteer assignment. We’ll provide you with orientation and appropriate training to help you get the most out of your volunteer experience. HIPAA and our accreditation agency require all of our volunteers to have a Cleveland Sight Center sponsored background check performed before beginning any volunteer work
