White Cane Walk

Cleveland Sight Center’s 16th Annual White Cane Walk will be held virtually on Saturday, June 5, 2021!

White Cane Walk is our annual fundraiser to raise awareness and support for the blind and visually impaired community. We are excited to build on the success of our first virtual White Cane Walk last year (2020) and reach even more people through this interactive virtual format.

Please join us this year by:

  • Donating
  • Registering to walk (on a route and time of your own choosing on June 5)
    • If you are walking, a $15 per person donation will qualify you to receive a pre-event box in the mail that includes a t-shirt and materials for our exclusive blindfolded activity! Walkers must register by Friday, May 21 to receive their pre-event box.
  • Creating your own fundraising team (step by step instructions to create a team are available here)
  • Spreading the word. Use this digital toolkit to post on your personal social media accounts or send an email to your networks about White Cane Walk

What is a white cane and why is it important?

"My white cane is a trusty companion. It enables me to be independent and have the freedom to go where I want to. It is more than just a stick to alert people that I am coming through, it’s a part of me like an extension of my hand. It provides me with information about how the ground level changes, curbs, holes, trip hazards, stairs, barriers and obstacles that are in my way.” - Alicia Howerton, Community Relations Specialist at CSC
