Learn more about the tools and resources available for you to advocate for yourself at home, work and in the community through a variety of sessions hosted by community members and CSC staff:

  • Personal Safety Awareness Tips
  • How to Use Cell Phone Accessibility
  • Blindness Basics
  • How to Navigate Transportation
  • The Value of Social and Recreation Activities
  • How to Advocate for Yourself in the Workplace

Sessions:

  • Transportation: Join us to learn about various transportation options and to hear information and tips from someone who utilizes various modes of transportation to lead an active and independent life. 
  • Blindness Basics: Whether you’re sighted or have a range of vision loss, join this session to discover proven methods for teaching or providing visually impaired/blindness etiquette techniques to engage and empower people.
  • Employment: An Employment Specialist will address specific barriers in the workplace and how to go about requesting reasonable accommodations.  The American with Disabilities Act and how it relates to employment will be covered.
  • Cell Phone Accessibility: Learn different ways your cell phone can optimize access to your daily life and be used for everyday tasks.
  • Personal Safety: Hear from a local police officer on how to avoid being susceptible to fraud and learn personal safety tips!
  • Social and Recreational Activities:  Join this session to learn about the personal value in engaging in social and recreational activities available at CSC or in the larger community

Attendees will also have the opportunity to visit and connect with vendors serving the blind and visually impaired community.
