Cleveland Sight Center Names Dr. Bryan Wolynski as New President and CEO

CLEVELAND, OH — September 29, 2026 — Cleveland Sight Center (CSC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Bryan Wolynski as its next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2026.

Dr. Wolynski is a nonprofit executive, optometrist, and nationally recognized subject-matter expert in vision rehabilitation and assistive technology.  Dr. Wolynski brings more than 20 years of experience in building innovative programs, leading multidisciplinary services, developing strategic partnerships, and advancing solutions that help people who are blind or have low vision live more independently and fully.

His experience spans clinical and rehabilitation services, assistive technology, organizational change, business development, community-based care, and private-practice operations in New York and Florida before arriving in Cleveland.  Throughout his career, Dr. Wolynski has worked on improving access, independence, and quality of life for people with vision loss.

“Bryan brings an exceptional combination of clinical expertise, nonprofit leadership, innovation, and a deep commitment to the people we serve,” said Erin Ploucha, Chair of the Cleveland Sight Center Board of Directors. “He understands Cleveland Sight Center, our mission, our people, and the communities we serve. His experience and vision will position CSC to build on its strong foundation while pursuing new opportunities to expand our impact.”

As a trusted relationship builder within the low-vision ecosystem, Dr. Wolynski has developed relationships that bring together professionals, nonprofit organizations, healthcare providers, technology innovators, community partners, and people with lived experience. His collaborative approach has helped create partnerships and solutions designed to address the evolving needs of people who are blind or have low vision.

Dr. Wolynski is also an experienced communicator and advocate for innovation in vision rehabilitation and assistive technology. He has been invited to speak at national conferences and has shared his expertise through a variety of media and public forums, helping raise awareness of the technologies, services, and resources that can empower people with vision loss.

“I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead Cleveland Sight Center,” said Dr. Wolynski. “CSC has a remarkable history, an extraordinary team, and a mission that has never been more important. I have had the privilege of experiencing this organization from the inside and seeing firsthand the difference our employees make in the lives of the people we serve.”

He continued, “I believe our greatest opportunities will come from building on our strengths, listening closely to the people we serve, strengthening partnerships across our community and beyond, and continuing to embrace innovation. Together, we can ensure that people who are blind or have low vision have the opportunity, resources, and support to live the lives they choose.”

Dr. Wolynski’s appointment follows an extensive national search.  His appointment also provides continuity through his current connection to the Cleveland Sight Center and its mission where he has served as Chief of Vision Rehabilitation since September 2025.

Current President and CEO Larry Benders will continue to serve through his planned retirement on December 31, 2026, providing an important transition period as Dr. Wolynski assumes the CEO role.

“Larry’s leadership has helped strengthen Cleveland Sight Center and prepare the organization for its future,” said Ploucha. “We are grateful for his service and are pleased to have this transition period to ensure continuity for our employees, clients, families, partners, and community.”

Dr. Wolynski’s appointment comes at a particularly meaningful moment in Cleveland Sight Center’s history. On November 16, 2026, Cleveland Sight Center will officially kick off its 120th yearlong anniversary celebration, marking 120 years of innovation, service, advocacy, and partnership with people who are blind or have low vision throughout Northeast Ohio and beyond.

The anniversary will not only be an opportunity to honor CSC’s remarkable history, but also to look toward the future.

As Cleveland Sight Center enters its next decade of service, the organization is embracing a new vision, one grounded in its history, strengthened by its people and focused on what is possible for the future.
