RESOURCES
This section includes information about other resources that you may find helpful; some are vision-related and others are broader in scope. The information is made available to you for your convenience in accessing external services and information; however, it is not a blanket endorsement of all the resources listed.
GOOG-411, Free Voice-activated Information Service
Google's new 411 service is free, fast and easy to use. You don't need a computer, an Internet connection, or even the keypad on your phone or mobile device. GOOG-411 is voice-activated, so you can access it from any phone (mobile or land line), in any location, at any time, for free. Dial 1-800-GOOG-411. Say where you are, what you're looking for and GOOG-411 will connect you with the business you choose.
Tellme Phone-Based Service
Tellme enables you to use voice commands to find and connect to people, businesses and information nationwide. Connections to the service are made by dialing 1-800-555-TELL. Tellme uses sophisticated voice recognition software that utilizes keywords to enable callers to access the Internet with a telephone. For instance, a caller can use Tellme to listen to the news or get their daily horoscope.

Low Vision Aids and Assistive Technology Donations Request for Clients in Need
Cleveland Sight Center’s Low Vision Clinic is collecting gently used low vision aids that will be used as donation items to clients in need who are unable to afford low vision aids on their own. Items that would be particularly useful would be hand held magnifiers, stand model magnifiers, telescopes and binoculars, Closed Circuit televisions (CCTVs), desktop electronic magnifiers, table and floor model task lamps, high powered prismatic low vision spectacles, good quality wrap style and clip-on non-prescription sunglasses, and spectacle or head mounted magnification systems.
For assistive technology donations, please contact Peggy Keating at 216-658-4673, or via email.
Perkins Braillers Needed
If you or someone you know has a Perkins Brailler that is not being used, please consider donating it to Cleveland Sight Center. We are in need of Braillers for use in training clients of all ages. Please contact Sylvia Snyder at 216-658-8777 or via email ssnyder@clevelandsightcenter.org.
Low Vision Self-Help Support Groups
Our licensed social workers assist clients in starting and running community based, low vision self-help support groups. These groups are run by clients, volunteers, and/or professionals. They are a place to come together to share your experiences, insights and allow you to spend time with others who share the challenge of vision loss. Low vision self-help groups exist in senior living buildings, libraries, churches, temples, and senior centers. Our social workers will help you find a group and/or give you the tools to help you get a group started.
